Trip to the Big Chute Marine Railway

Today I took a ride to the Big Chute Marine Railway which is part of the Trent-Severn Waterway. It is amazing how they move these large boats from one level of water to the other. Enjoy!

An Afternoon On Minten's Lane in Port Severn, Ontario

I'm lucky to have 3 "Moms". Today, I spent the afternoon at Mom Minten's in Port Severn, Ontario including a couple of boat rides where I took the following photos. I love being on the water and need to buy my "dream boat" real soon...come on Lotto Max!! :)

Scott Kelby's 3rd Annual Worldwide Photo Walk

Today I participated in one of the worldwide photo walks, this one based in Barrie and led by a friend, Chris O'Driscoll. There were alot of Barrie Photo Club members out and one even brought his "sherpa" to carry all of his gear. (Nice Bill, where do I get one of those?) Here are some photos I took. Enjoy!

Time Is Ticking....When to Get Out and Shoot?

Photography is not the easist hobby to be into. Finding the time to get out and shoot photos is extremely difficult. Unfortunately there is something called work that always seems to interfere. On top of that, one tends to involve themselves in various other endeavours that require more and more of their time. One such endeavour for me is the Barrie Photo Club. Being in charge of Public Relations for the club has me ensuring our announcements are in the local papers, designing printed material for the club and preparing slide presentations for each months meeting. Oh well, all this means is that I'll have to allow time to "find and dust off" my camera when the time comes that I'm able to get away and actually take some photos. Added pressure to all of this is an email from my mother-in-law saying "you haven't posted any new photos on your blog". Soon (I hope!). I'm looking forward to my annual Algonquin trip coming up in early June - time for your closeup Mr. Moose. Stay tuned folks! (PS. Build It and They Will Come!

At the beginning of January I installed a bird feeder to attract some of the neighbourhood birds. My intention was to photograph some of them. Not as easy as it sounds. My feeder consists of a platform with a tree branch that I placed for the birds to land on while feeding. Many of the birds are very skiddish, and tend to fly away while I get ready to shoot them. Here's a couple of shots I did manage to take.

Big Honkin' Shrimp

So far I have found that it is really hard to take photos during the week. But that doesn't stop me!! Today I had lunch with some special people at The Octagon where their famous shrimp cocktail appetizer consists of these big honkin' shrimp. The photo quality may not be great as it was taken with my Blackberry, but you got to admit the shrimp look delicious...and they were. :)
